My Trager journey started in 1979 when I saw a demonstration of the "Trager Approach" by Betty Fuller in Chicago at an AHP conference; I knew then that I wanted to learn this gentle yet effective way of working. After moving to Portland 1980 I started my training and became a Practitioner and, in 1985, a Tutor. I feel privileged to have received my training directly with Dr. Trager, and that I was able to assist him at many trainings in the early years of the Trager Institute.
I have taught Introductory Day Workshops and Supervised Practice Days. I am a RN and have a private practice in Portland, OR. In addition to my Trager certifications, I have been trained in Somamassage, and am certified in the 1st and 2nd degrees in the Usui System of Reiki Healing. In 1986 I was certified as a table instructor in Cranio- sacral Therapy by The Upledger Institute, and since that same year I have taught MFR and CST in this country and in Canada.
Being on the USTA board and experiencing the principles of "Tragering" put to use in establishing our new organization has been educational and fun! I feel serving on this board has been a way to give back some of what has been given to me.

Secretary
I have been a Trager® practitioner since 1999. In my practice I encourage physical and inner healing through the exploration of movement and therapeutic touch. I work with a variety of clients, in particular runners and women with health issues. I have been a massage therapist since 1993 and have taught massage therapy at Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA for five years. I am also a nationally certified reflexologist. My love for the Trager® Approach grew out of my love to move and be moved. Mentastics makes me feel like I have the body of a child again, free of aches and restrictions and enhances my athletic performance. I enjoy sharing this feeling of ease, lightness and fluidity that the Trager® Approach has to offer.

Region: Great Lakes Trager Association (GLTA)[Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin]
I have been a teacher since the early 70's and in 1988 I needed a break from teaching so I became a massage therapist in 1989. My practice has been with the acutly injured and the chronic diseases of the body, a journey that has introduced me to all kinds of modalities in body work. I received in the mail one day a flyer on the Trager approach and I fell in love with the idea of working and playing with less effort, not to change the condition of the tissue but to use our hands to communicate a quality of feeling that elicts a response in the nervous sysytem. Trager has been a life changing experience in my practice and in my personal life.
I am a mother of three grown children who prefer Trager over massage these days! That is something considering I could only get them to sleep if I rubbed their back when they were little!
I have been a Trager practioner since1999 and am presently teaching Nia to the healthy population, but events are turning my work to the disabled and cancer patients. My goal is to bring Mentastics to the older population and to become an introductory workshop leader.

Patricia Riley
Region: Northwest Trager Association (NWTA) [Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming]
President Elect
I'm Patricia Riley and I have been a Trager Practitioner for 10 years. I divide my time between my practice, family and gardening. I live in a rural community across Puget Sound from Seattle. I am currently working out of my home 3 days per week and 2 days I work on Bainbridge Island. Raising my daughters (16-year-old identical twins) is a major part of my life. I am looking forward to the changes in my energy expenditure as they step out into the world. I wish to increase my involvement in the different community circles that I am part of. I volunteered to be NW Board Representative because I want to help breath life back into the Trager community. I want all practitioners and students to have the support we need to bring this work to the world.

Rebecca deS. Young
Region: Northern California (NORCAT)[California zip codes 93000-96999]
COT Representative Elect
I have been a Trager practitioner since 1996 and currently have a limited private practice in which I combine the trager approach and principles of occupational therapy. I have an MS in Occupational Therapy and a BA in liberal studies with a minor in health science. Before returning to college I had concurrent professional careers in cooking and dance. Milton Trager's work meshes very well with my interests in movement, health and occupation. I enjoy sharing the Trager approach and mentastics with a wider rehabilitation community as an occupational therapist. I look forward to hearing from members of our northern California community or anyone else interested in the trager approach.

Susan Schiedel
Region: Trager Southeast (TSE)[Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, portions of N.Carolina, S. Carolina]
Treasurer
After assorted lives in various places (including Ann Arbor, MI; Berkeley, CA; Rockford, IL; and Upper Montclair, NJ), Susan moved to South Florida in early 1997 to be near her aging parents, who are still a major focus of her time and attention. (Mother with Alzheimer's disease since 1994, in a nursing home since August 2002; Father now ninety-plus, still living at home).
A few months after moving to Florida, Susan (quite unexpectedly) found herself enrolled in Educating Hands Massage School in Miami, where she first heard of The Trager® Approach. A month after receiving her Florida massage therapy license, Susan took her first Trager® training. She was certified as a Trager® Practitioner in September of 1999.
In addition to The Trager® Approach, Susan has studied and uses various forms of Specialized Kinesiology. She is also certified as a BodyTalk Practitioner.
Susan currently lives a few blocks from the ocean in Miami Beach (where Mentastics® and The Trager® Approach began!). She usually starts her day with an early-morning visit to the beach: running, walking, climbing, wading, swimming, stretching, playing, admiring nature, and generally enjoying being alive in a beautiful world. What could be easier?
