Professional Training Program

The Trager International certification program trains and certifies a person to be a Trager Practitioner. This program consists of a combination of hands-on training, fieldwork, and supervised tutorials. We have found that this combination allows the time required for the development of the skills and experience of the individual required for certification.

Mentastics Training: Mentastics training involves instruction in the use of self-care movements and instruction and practice teaching these movements to clients and groups. Mentastics is taught both in private sessions and group classes. Dr. Trager developed these simple, effortless movements to encourage playful exploration of "what could be freer" for your body. Integrating Mentastics into your daily life will allow you to enhance and recall feelings of ease, freedom, flexibility and joy. Mentastics can become part of the way you take care of yourself and relieve stress and tension. These classes are included in each module.

Anatomy & Physiology of the Trager Approach: Emphasis is placed on the relationships between various groups of muscles and organs, which produce patterns of posture and movement. The course focuses on two aspects of the relationship: A) The mechanical arrangements of the muscles, bones, and surrounding tissues, and their kinesthetic interaction with one another. B) The principles of neuropatterning, which animate these mechanical elements. These classes are included in each module.

Tutorials: Tutorials are private lessons, which give the Student feedback and guidance between trainings. During these sessions the Student's progress and work is assessed according to the standards of practice. Recommendations are made to concentrate on specific areas, and/or for continuing on to the next level of training.

PRACTITIONER CERTIFICATION

Upon completion of the training program, the Student submits his/her recommending Tutorials, Student transcript, a short personal essay, and prorated Practitioner dues together with US$30 processing fee to the National Association Administrative Office for evaluation. When certification is confirmed, the Practitioner may begin to charge for sessions.
